The Circus comes to town! The children spent a week developing new skills including the trapeze and a bit of clowning around.
Medieval Fayre

Over 700 people visited our Medieval Fayre day in April. The children took part in Knife throwingm shield making and lots more. The weather was fantastic and the day ended with a parade of knights and horses in full medieval outfits.
Karneval Every year the children celebrate Karneval - even the weather can't stop the fantastic costumes.

Breakfast Club - from 07:45 each morning. The breakfast club started in Sept and now serves over 40 Children each morning.
Film Night The first ever Shackleton school film night was a roaring success with over 300 people coming to school to see the children's films. From a silent movie to modern takes on the classics, something for every one was on show. Anthony Ballard form BFBS compared the show and handed out the Shackleton OSCARS. As with all great award ceremonies the dresses were fantastic and the boys looked good as well.
The Vikings The children have been learning all about the Vikings and at the end of term they held a Viking day.  Having visited the Viking museum at the beginning of term the children were able to produce authentic costumes and weapons.  With the help of Mr Benbow they produced some impressive shields and were able to reproduce Viking fighting tactics.
Whole School Sking Following the success of this years whole school visit to the Snowdome at Bispingin, we will be holding another trip in the New Year and the summer.  The children had a great time learning to ski and we are sure they would love another visit.  Once dates have been confirmed we will let you know.

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in our school and on behalf of the staff and the children I would like to welcome you to Shackleton School.  As a school we pride ourselves on the learning environment we provide, the family ethos of our school, the personalised approach that we have towards teaching and learning and the achievements of all of our children.  Education is a partnership between home and school and we place a great deal of emphasis on the relationship we have with all of our parents. We firmly believe that children learn best when home and school work together.  Your child will bring with them a wealth of knowledge and understanding about the world around them and it is our aim to build upon this and develop it by introducing new skills and by promoting their motivation and enthusiasm for learning.  We look forward to working with you.

Healthy Schools Award

On Wednesday 2nd December the school was awarded the Healthy Schools Award. This is a great achievement and reflects the work that goes on in school to help keep the children healthy and safe. Our thanks go to all the children and staff who have worked hard but in particular Mr Tayler who was the lead on this project.

Well done, we will be having an award ceremony next term when we receive the plaque
